Philip Hoffman is the Chief Executive of The Fine Art Fund Group. The Fine Art Fund was the first fund of its type to invest in art as an asset class worldwide. Since the launch of the first fund, Philip has overseen the launch of The Fine Art Fund II, The Chinese Fine Art Fund, The Middle Eastern Fine Art Fund and The Indian Fine Art Fund. Philip has worked in the art world for twenty years and is the founder of The Fine Art Fund. Previously, he spent over a decade working for Christie’s, which he joined from KPMG and at 33, he became the youngest member of the Christie’s International Management Board. The Fine Art Fund Group has a team of 30 professionals and now has representatives in London, Geneva, Lugano and Miami. As well as managing the investment funds, the Group provides Art Advisory services to two major banks in Switzerland and America through Fine Art Investment & Research Limited (FAIR). Philip is a regular speaker at the Credit Suisse Family Office Forum, the ING Art Conference and Euromoney Conferences, and frequently comments regarding the art market on Bloomberg TV, BBC radio, CNBC, CNN and Sky News.
David Abramson is an executive director of the London-based private equity firm Arena Investment Partners Limited. He has extensive experience in fund management, having been one of the founders of the mutual fund industry in South Africa. From 1992-2002 he was chairman of Art Review, the leading monthly art magazine in the UK, and has served on numerous art judging panels and art related bodies. He is a Chartered Accountant and received a Bachelor of Commerce degree and the Higher Diploma in Tax Law from the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg.
Jonathan Bean is President of J.S. Bean & Son LLC, a family investment office that acts for himself and his family’s interests. The firm also acts as an alternative investment consulting firm with a specialty of assisting investment managers with their marketing, sales, and client services functions. Before forming J.S. Bean & Son Mr. Bean was one of two principal co-founders of Mellon HBV Alternative Strategies LLC, an event driven manager that had over $1.2 billion in assets under management with offices in New York, London, and Hong Kong. Before forming the predecessor to Mellon HBV in 1999, Mr. Bean was a Vice President and Director of Allen and Company Incorporated and had been employed by them since 1993. Before Allen & Company, Mr. Bean was employed as Vice President and Secretary of W.R. Bean & Son, Inc., a family holding company with interests in equities, timber assets and real estate. Mr. Bean received a Masters in Business Administration with honors from the Columbia University Graduate School of Business in 1994 and a Bachelor of Science degree in management from Tulane University in 1985.
Artur Fernandes trained at an investment banking joint firm of JP Morgan, Deutsche Bank and the Mellon Group in Portugal. He then became Head of Corporate Finance at Deutsche Bank and later General Manager of the Espirito Santo Investment Bank in Portugal. He joined Salomon Brothers as a Director in London and currently is the Chief Executive Officer of Banif Investment Bank, and Member of the Board of Banif, one of the top 4 private Portuguese financial services groups in Portugal.
Edward Schneider is a graduate of the Solvay Business School at the University of Brussels and has over 20 years of experience working in international finance in London, New York, Cologne and Belgium. He joined the group of Baron Frère in 1983 and headed international corporate finance for its London merchant bank Henry Ansbacher. In 1995 he joined Samuel Montagu as a director in the international advisory department. Since 1997, Edward Schneider has been active as an independent corporate finance advisor, specialising in Europe.
